Lady Gaga - Bad Romance

One of the biggest Pop highlights in the last week was the release of the insane new video by Lady Gaga.

The video is for her hot new single "Bad Romance" the leading single from her upcoming sophomore album 'The Fame Monster'.

The track is currently sitting on the iTunes number 1 spot and deservedly so. I'm in love with the video because it has fashion, sex and wackiness, pretty much everything the embodies Lady Gaga.

Lily Allen - Who'd Have Known

Another fantastic new video by Lily Allen!!

It's for "Who'd Have Known" the fourth single from her brilliant new album 'It's Not Me It's You'.

When I saw her live earlier this year she performed this song beautifully and I've loved it ever since. The song is hooky and I absolutely love the darker and more mature image she's got on this album. And this video is genious!

The song and album are available on iTunes Canada today.

Sugababe Amelle Berrabah Checks Into Private Clinic

It looks like all the recent breakup drama has taken it's toll on Sugababes member Amelle Berrabah (left) because she's been forced to take a break from the group after checking into a private clinic suffering from nervous exhaustion.

Following medical advice the singer was advised to take a hiatus from the girl group for at least three weeks and is not expected to return until November.

Fellow members Heidi Range (center) and Jade Ewen (right) who replaced original member Keisha Buchanan who left last month, issued a joint statement on the group's official website.

It said: "Unfortunately, Amelle has been forced to take an unexpected short break away from the pressures of work, following some professional medical advice earlier this week.

"For the next three weeks, Amelle will be staying at a private health clinic in Europe where she will be able to rest and recuperate under expert supervision.

"We're expecting her to return to work in full health by the beginning of November."

The group have had to cancel a performance in Leeds on Sunday, their first live show with the new line-up.

Range and Ewen added: "Although this news will come as a huge disappointment to Sugababes fans, we really do have to treat Amelle's welfare as a priority at times like this.

"She has the love and support of everyone around her including family, friends, bandmates and the label and we are sure that fans will join us in wishing Amelle a speedy recovery."

I'm really looking forward to their upcoming North American debut so I wish the girls all the best and a quick recovery for Amelle.

Calvin Harris is back with a brand new album and it is brilliant!!

I fell in love with gold-selling 2007 debut album 'I Created Disco' and his follow up 'Ready For The Weekend'surpasses it tenfold!

'Ready For The Weekend' is more Dance than than his first album and it boasts some massive riffs and big hands-in-the-air moments.

The album just came out yesterday in North America and it includes his UK chart-topping Dizzee collaboration "Dance Wiv Me" and his own Number One single "I'm Not Alone".

Mini Viva - Left My Heart in Tokyo

Mini Viva? No it's not a new compact car from Europe, they're the latest girl group to make an assault on the charts.

Their debut single "Left My Heart in Tokyo" is already Scott Mills’ Record of the Week 6 weeks before it’s release on September 7th.

Consisting of friends Frankee and Britt, Mini Viva have been working with the Girls Aloud ’s production team Xenomania and they’re managed by the Spice Girls’ former manager Simon Fuller, so all the signs are positive.

They describe the sound they have found with their collaborators as pop with a quirky edge.

Watch out this summer could be the start of Mini Viva Fever. Learn more about them on their official MySpace page.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor Working On New Album

Sophie Ellis-Bextor has said she would like to release some new material before the year is out.

Speaking to Digitalspy.co.uk, she said "The album's pretty much done - we've got about three quarters of the way through it. I was supposed to have finished it earlier in the year but then I had my baby so my schedule changed somewhat."

Speaking about the direction of the record, she added "If anything the album's going to be a bit more dance and a bit more electro. In the past my albums have featured quite a broad range of genres a bit of indie, a bit of electro but this one definitely feels like it's more dance-centric. I've done tracks with Calvin Harris, Metronomy and Liam from the Sneaker Pimps, which is maybe why!"

If "Heartbreak (Make Me a Dancer) " is an indication of what's coming up I'm really looking forward to the new album!

Just Jack - The Day I Died

Just Jack is one of my favourite male artists because of his unique style and lyrics so I'm very happy that he's got a new video out and a new album on the way.

With a little help from Elton John, Just Jack has hooked up with actor James Nesbitt for the video of his stunning new single "The Day I Died", which was filmed in East London last week.

Elton adopted the role of ‘Casting Director’ for the video after listening to the sentiments of the track, Elton decided that James Nesbitt was the only man for the role.

Jack himself makes a cameo in the video as a paramedic for the finale of the cinematic video.

“The Day I Died”, out August 17, 2009 is Just Jack’s second single from his new album ‘All Night Cinema' to be released August 24th.

Brand video by Little Boots!!

It's for "Remedy" the second single from her debut album 'Hands'. Not my pick for the second single, I would've gone with "Meddle" or "Love Kills" but in my eyes Little Boots can do no wrong. Loving the video, totally suits her style.

Unfortunately the album is not currently available in North America so you'll have to get creative to get it...

Little Boots is also currently on tour and I'll be catching her in Toronto on September 19. Visit her official website to learn more about her and to get her tour dates near you.

Madonna To Appear On X Factor?

According to reports Madonna is currently in talks to appear on the UK's X Factor talent show later this year.

Last year Beyonce's duet with eventual winner Alexander Burke drew 15 million viewers and it's likely that she will return for this year's show.

Simon Cowell won't stop there as he is keen to sign up more big names for this year's show.

Other stars being lined up to perform include Lady GaGa and Rihanna.

An insider told The Sun: "The last series proved anything is possible when Beyonce performed with Alex. The final got 15million viewers and that is enough to entice the biggest stars on to our stage.

"This year is going to be bigger than ever - we are planning to get the best names in music. Madonna and Robbie (Williams) would be sensational."

Florence & The Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)

There's this new artist I discovered recently and I absolutely love her sound.

She goes by the name of Florence & The Machine and you can watch the video for "Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)" the fourth single from her debut album 'Lungs' above.

Her soaring, epic vocals, quirky melodies and self-contained musical world have already won her the 2009 Critics Choice Award at the Brits. Her debut album came out today it's full of beautiful sounds. If you like Imogen Heap and Bjork you'll definitely love Florence.

On her official site the album is described as made of harps, choirs, drums, elevator shafts, bits of metal, love, death, fireworks, string quartets, stamping, sighing, strange electronic wailing, lambs, lions, sick, broken glass, blood, moon, stars, drink, coffins, teeth, water, wedding dresses.. and the silences in between. The songs are full of Gothic imagery, of fairytale flights of fantasy, and although much has been read into her lyrics, Florence says it’s usually simple. “Everything is about boys!” she laughs. “The whole album is about love – and pain. People see my lyrics as crazy, but to me it’s an honest, heartfelt album. I didn't set out to be wacky. I just want it to be emotive.”

Get the single and the two CD album on iTunes now!

Also check out her official MySpace page to learn more about her.

iPhone & iPod Touch OS 3.0 Software Update!

So I was really pissed off when I read about all the great new stuff that the upcoming iPhone 3G S would be able to do after just buying my current 3G four months ago. But guess what?!

The new iPhone OS 3.0 software update adds most of the new features from the 3G S to the current 3G!!

The new update includes:

  • Landscape keyboard
  • Cut, Copy and Paste
  • MMS video, photos, audio and contact info
  • Spotlight search
  • Peer to peer connectivity
  • Voice memos
  • Improved calendar
  • Shake to shuffle
  • and my favourite Youtube Login!
Theres also an update for the iTouch (second generation) that includes some of the new features but of course some of the features available on the iPhone wont' be supported by the iTouch.

The software update is free for the iPhone but if you want it for the iTouch it'll cost ya 9.99$ (CAD). I've already tested many of the updates on my iPhone and I'm very impressed so I think it'd be worth it for iTouch owners to purchase the update.

I'm very happy and relieved by this update 'cause I was about to send a hate letter to Steve Jobs but now I'm happy :o)

The update for the iPhone will self install the next time you connect it to your computer and for the iTouch you'll find it on the home page of the iTunes store.

Welcome to the future boys and girls!

Click HERE to learn more about the new features for the 3G.

Little Boots - New In Town

I’ve been OBSESSED with Little Boots for the past few months so I’m very excited about the release of her full length debut album titled ‘Hands’.

The album was released today in the UK but unfortunately it's not yet available in North America. In the meantime there's a new EP coming out tomorrow that should keep her fans satisfied for a bit (already pre-ordered it). The EP is titled 'Illuminations' and it contains some not yet released tracks, digital booklet and the "New In Town" music video.

If you’re not familiar with her music you’re missing out on one of the best new artists to come out of the electro-pop scene this year. Some music critics and reviews have gone as far as to name her the new Lady Gaga and the new Kylie Minogue and I have to say they might be right.

Watch the music video above for “New In Town” the album’s lead single and her very first music video as a solo artist.

Click HERE to purchase the “New In Town” EP (four remixes), HERE for her full album 'Hands' (UK only) and HERE for 'Illuminations' (North America).

I bought her self titled debut album as soon as I got home that night without even previewing the other tracks. I knew I'd love it and I was right! The whole album is full of delicious pop/dance songs that you'll keep playing over and over again.

"I Did It For Love" is my personal favourite and I'm soo glad she made a video for it. The song is addictive and the video is amazing!! Been waiting for the full video to come out and it's finally out! Watch it above and enjoy!

Lily Allen - Not Fair

Here's the latest video by the always controversial Lily Allen. This one's for "Not Fair" the second single from her sophomore album 'It's Not Me, It's You'.

The song and video are quite different from anything she's done before. Some might not appreciate the style and look if they're not familiar with the old country variety shows but I totally see what she's going for. It's just for fun and obviously she doesn't take herself too seriously.

I'll be seeing her live in Toronto on April 22nd, can't wait!!

Until then here's a little piece his musical genius for your enjoyement; the track is called "Better Off As Two".

Some of favourite artists won awards including Coldplay for Song of The Year and Best Pop Performance By A Duo or Group for "Viva La Vida", Adele won for Best New Artist and Best Female Vocal Performance for "Chasing Pavements" and Duffy for Best Pop Vocal Album for 'Rockferry'.
