The greatest Pop duo ever The Pet Shop Boys will receive the Outstanding Contribution to Music award at next year's BRIT AwBoldards.

The duo, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, will receive the prestigious accolade at the ceremony in February, and will close the star-studded event with a live peformance of their greatest hits.

The Pet Shop Boys have sold over 50 million records since signing to Parlophone in 1985. The duo first received a Brit in 1987, winning best British single for the global hit “West End Girls,” and then won best British group the following year. They recently renewed their Parlophone deal.

"Since their first Brit Award over 20 years ago, Neil [Tennant] and Chris [Lowe] have produced a fantastic body of work with songs that truly were the soundtrack to a whole generation's lives,” said Ged Doherty, Brits Committee chairman and Sony BMG U.K. chairman and chief executive, in a statement. “The Pet Shop Boys have since become one of the most influential groups of the modern era and are deserving recipients of the award."

Most recently the duo has worked as producers or remixers with artists including Robbie Williams, Liza Minnelli, David Bowie, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Yoko Ono and The Killers.
